    The airport is expected to open in April 2024 and will already be offering nonstop flights to Tulum (TQO) from Mexico City (MEX) starting on December 1. Flights are already on sale, including connections from the United States
    The Mexican Government and Quintana Roo state expect the new airport, Mayan Train and the new Jaguar park to help double tourism to the area in the next 3-5 years. The airport is going to have the most private plan hangars in the area and the only to have hangars for private flights, not even the Cancun airport will have them. The mayan train will also bring in other commerce and tourism to the area since many people that go to Cancun dont often make the drive to Tulum since its about 1.5 hrs south. The Jaguar park is a national park that is the equivalent of Central Park NY. and will also attract tourists.

    Yes the new airport will not only expand the tourism to the area but it will become a HUB for international travelers into Mexico. It will not compete with Cancun’s airport as they will host different airlines that dont even arrive to Cancun but it will also host all private hangars in the area and other international routes that have not been available to the Cancun airport.
